Members of the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) are appointed
annually by the Dean of the School of Medicine. Resident members are appointed
through a process of peer selection within each residency program. Alternatives
are elected and asked to commit to a shared responsibility of ensuring substitute
participation at each meeting if the appointed representative is unable
to attend.
The GMEC reports to the Dean of the School of Medicine, to the Faculty
Council of the School of Medicine, and at least annually to the Executive
Medical Board (the organized medical staff) of each of the three major
participating hospitals (Moffitt-Long/Mt. Zion Medical Centers, SFGH and
the SF Veterans Administration Medical Center).
