Great People

Dear Colleagues:

Your dedication to excellence is one of the reasons that the UCSF School of Medicine continues to be one of the nation’s top institutions for medical education, scientific research and patient care. Even in these challenging times, there are indications of the great work done here all around us. As just one example, we now rank second only to Johns Hopkins for the most NIH funding for any medical school, up from No. 3. (Read more on our web site.)

I want to make sure that you know that we recognize that our people are our greatest asset, and we are committed to your health and well-being. As this year’s School of Medicine Staff Appreciation program, we are partnering with the UCSF Medical Center to provide a number of wellness events that are aimed to provide some relaxation, rejuvenation, and other benefits.  These events include a meditative labyrinth walk, concert series, and fitness classes.  For a schedule of events and to register for dance, yoga and rock climbing classes, please see our Event Schedule.

You also are invited to join me at the annual Salute to Excellence on May 27, where we will recognize the recipients of Tier Two and Great People awards, and present the Holly Smith Awards, the school’s top honors.

Whether you have joined us recently or have been part of the UCSF family for years, the School of Medicine depends on you. I constantly hear from colleagues, donors, patients and visitors how much they appreciate what you do. Please accept my thanks for your continued dedication and service.

Sincerely,

Sam Hawgood, MB, BS
Interim Dean
