Steps for Obtaining Remote Access

Step 1: Apply for a VPN account

Campus Information Technology Services (ITS) provides and supports the Juniper Secure Access SSL VPN system free of charge to faculty and staff. To learn more or sign up, visit their website.

Step 2: Log into the VPN using your browser

Once you have received your VPN login ID and password, you may connect to the campus network by going to vpn.ucsf.edu.

For VPN password assistance, contact ITS Customer Support by email itscs@its.ucsf.edu or phone, (415) 514-4100, option 2.

Step 3: Configure your VPN Home page to access files on the SOM Server. The OAAIS website has directions for setting this up. Please contact your CSC if you are not sure what to enter under "Windows File Servers."

Network Connect

Network Connect enables you to connect to the file servers using "My Network Places" and to access your email using the Outlook desktop client.

Step 5: Configure E-mail (Network Connect only)

Note: You may use Outlook Web Access (OWA) with or without VPN.
