5th Annual UCSF Global Health Symposium

Gail Reed, Executive Director of Medical Education Cooperation with Cuba (MEDICC) will deliver a keynote address entitled, “Cuba and the Quest for Global Health.” A screening of the documentary film, SALUD! will follow the symposium. The public is invited to this screening. The event will showcase UCSF students’ international research, project work, or service completed during professional school. Four oral presentations will be given by the students who submit the best abstracts as judged by a panel of UCSF Global Health Sciences Faculty. Additional projects will be presented as posters, and the best poster will be selected by attendees at the symposium. Following the oral presentations, a poster session/reception featuring Cuban food and music will take place in the Nursing Mezzanine. Wednesday, April 25, 2007
Helping students share their experiences with other students and the rest of the UCSF community is part of the mission of Office of International Programs (OIP) and UCSF Global Health Sciences. The UCSF Global Health Symposium was established in 2003 in honor of Dr. Haile Debas, Dean of the School of Medicine from 1993-2003. Dr. Debas' vision and support of UCSFs leadership in international health education and research continues at UCSF Global Health Sciences.
