Women’s Global Health Imperative: CIDEA Overview As part of the Women’s Global Health Imperative (WGHI), the Center for International Data Evaluation and Analysis (CIDEA) was established in 2002 in order to provide data management and statistical support for a large, multi-site, international clinical trial. Since its inception, the group has rapidly expanded and now supports over six trials, international and domestic, in various stages of data collection and analysis. The staff of twenty is made up of Data Managers, Programmers and Statisticians with a wide variety of experience and knowledge. The center required a secure, climate controlled server room with emergency power to house their data collection equipment. The systems were previously housed in a standard office with no additional climate controls, limited security and inadequate power conditioning.
The ISU server operations team consulted with CIDEA and designed a plan
to move the system from its current location and also take over support
and management for the data collection systems. CIDEA relocated their
systems to the ISU’s data center and has taken advantage of improved
system reliability and system uptime to mitigate loss or corruption of
data as it is received from around the world at all hours. Results
