SOM Laptop Encryption Project

Goal:

Secure sensitive data (i.e. ePHI, financial, etc) on all SOM laptop computers, along with identified high risk SOM desktops--reviewed on a case by case basis.

Scope:

• FY 09-10 licensing costs for up to 2500 laptops and high-risk desktops from SOM Dean's Office
• ISU, as the Security Control Point for SOM, will perform a Quality Assurance (QA) Assessment post-encryption

• SOM ISU will collaborate with UCSF Campus IT (OAAIS), and partner IT groups
• Utilize OAAIS’ Check Point FDE infrastructure to deploy encryption on all SOM laptops and identified high risk SOM desktops
