Interactive Learning Center (ILC)

The ILC South provides access to computing resources at all times. Christine Wong, an ILC staff member, assists OET by managing the laptops for the Mobile Computing Program. Christine is located in S166, is available for questions or consulting appointments Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm.

Center for Instructional Technology (CIT)

CIT supports the application of information/computing technology to the delivery of course content. The CIT's role is to facilitate and promote effective use of multimedia and computer-based resources in the UCSF curricula. The CIT maintains WebCT, a web-based course management environment used by all UCSF schools for delivering curricular content. WebCT delivers the School of Medicine digital curriculum iROCKET.

Information Services Unit (ISU)

The School of Medicine Information Services Unit is committed to providing top quality, comprehensive information technology solutions and services to the UCSF School of Medicine Dean's Office and departments in support of their administrative, academic, clinical, and research missions. ISU and OET maintain Ilios, the curriculum management tool.

Learning Through Interactive Video Education
(Project L.I.V.E.)

The UCSF School of Medicine has partnered with the The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Colorado School of Medicine and five other medical schools on a Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) funded project to develop digital video Problem-Based Learning (PBL) cases. These cases are used in a Web/CD-ROM hybrid model with "virtual" or face-to-face PBL groups. Virtual groups conduct online discussions between students at multiple clinical sites and a faculty mentor. To the degree possible, these cases simulate a real encounter by using computer-based digital video rather than text, therefore the student must rely on the video to glean the information from the patient encounter and develop the visual recognition skills that are important in medicine. To learn more about Project L.I.V.E. visit http://mama.uchsc.edu/pub/live/intro_pub.htm

Computer Resources in Medical Education (CRIME)

CRIME is a special interest group of educational technologist and educational leaders in the western region of the Association of American Medical Colleges' Group on Educational Affairs (WGEA).

AAMC MedEdPORTAL

MedEdPORTAL is a web-based tool that promotes collaboration across disciplines and institutions by facilitating the exchange of peer reviewed educational materials, knowledge, and solutions. By extending the AAMC Group on Educational Affairs (GEA's) CACHE (Competencies Across the Continuum of Health Education) framework, MedEdPORTAL will serve as a central repository of high quality educational materials such as PowerPoint presentations, assessment materials, virtual patient cases, and faculty development materials.
