Quick Hire The Quick Hire process is one that is used when the department has identified a candidate for a limited position and does not need to recruit for it. Under current Human Resources guidelines, appointments expected to be longer than four months at 100% or 700 hours or more must utilize the open recruitment process for the hiring of limited employees. Appointments expected at four months at 100% or less and/or on-going appointments at 46% time may continue to utilize the Quick Hire Process. A Limited Appointment should be used only where it is certain that the position will not require an employee to be on pay status 1,000 hours in a 12-month period. Note that an employee working at 100% time can attain 1,000 hours in less than six months. If the position is one that may require an employee to be on pay status for more than 1,000 hours in a 12-month period, it should be posted as a career appointment. See Recruitment. The department is responsible for ensuring limited positions do not become career by default. How to initiate a quick hire: a) Prepare a very brief job description outlining the job responsibilities and send it to OHRS. b) OHRS will work with the manager/supervisor to classify the position. c) Obtain a completed Resume Supplement form from the final candidate. d) Contact the OHRS supervisor for salary approval. e) Send the following documents to the OHRS analyst at Box 1379:
The department will be responsible for the classification, selection, salary setting, and payroll processing of employees hired through this process. The Quick Hire process may not be used to hire an individual into a career position . If a department needs to recruit for a limited position, the procedures are the same as if recruiting for a career position. (See How To Post A Job) |
