Pathway to Discovery in Molecular Medicine
Requirements
Class of 2009: Students who have fulfilled the requirements for the AoC in Basic Science and complete the requirements for a thesis will graduate with an MD with Thesis and Certificate in Molecular Medicine.
Class of 2010: Students will be required to fulfill the year-long research experience, complete one-quarter length graduate-level core class and the summer core elective, and participate in the journal and research clubs. Additional coursework will be optional.
Class of 2011: Students will be required to fulfill the year-long research experience, complete one-quarter length graduate-level core class and the summer core elective, and participate in the journal and research clubs. Additional coursework will be optional.
Class of 2012: Students will be expected to complete all requirements of the program.
Residents: Residents will be allowed to take core classes and electives as their schedules allow, although this will not be mandatory. To receive a Certificate in Molecular Medicine, residents will be required to take the summer core elective, participate in the journal and research clubs, and fulfill a 6-12 month-long research experience. Resident enrollment and specific requirements will be arranged on an individual basis by consultation between the resident, the home department, and the MMP.
SOD students: The overall requirements for receiving a Certificate in Molecular Medicine will be similar to those for School of Medicine students. Specific coursework, the nature of the research experience, and the way in which participation will be recognized beyond the Certificate, is currently being examined. SOD student enrollment in the Pathway will be on an individual basis by arrangement between the student, the SOD, and the MMP.
SOP students: The overall requirements for receiving a Certificate in Molecular Medicine will be similar to those for School of Medicine students. Specific coursework, the nature of the research experience, and the way in which participation will be recognized beyond the Certificate is currently being examined. SOP student enrollment in the Pathway will be on an individual basis by arrangement between the student, the SOP, and the MMP.
