SFGH Computing and Network Services
The goal of the SFGH Dean’s Office Computing & Network Services (CNS) group to support the academic, research and administrative missions of the University of California, San Francisco at San Francisco General Hospital. CNS is affiliated with the School of Medicine Information Services Unit (ISU) in providing information technology services to UCSF staff and faculty at SFGH. The CNS Unit bridges the gap between the University's academic, research and administrative computer and network needs and those of the DPH at SFGH.
Under the direction of Tim Greer, Computing and Network Services provides solutions and support in three service areas:
Data Network and Security Services:
SFGH Computing and Network Services provides a comprehensive suite of services designed to maintain a stable, efficient data network at SFGH. CNS offers network design, installation, wireless and security consulting services to SFGH based UCSF departments.
Server Administration Email and Hosting Services:
SFGH Computing and Network Services Unit (CNS) offers a variety of flexible server administration and hosting options to SFGH based UCSF departments. CNS offers Web hosting, data center server co-location, dedicated server hosting, and managed IT services. We offer a high level of expertise on server and networking hardware, Unix and Windows operating systems, Web, email, database, file and print, Windows Active Directory, and project management.
Desktop and End User Support:
CNS desktop engineers are committed to providing fast, friendly support to our customers. Support can be requested from the CNS help desk at 415-206-5126, or by email at support@sfgh.ucsf.edu. The helpdesk is staffed from 8 AM till 5 PM M-F. Using remote management tools, our desktop engineers can often solve your problem while we have you on the phone. When remote resolution is not possible, one of our technicians will come to you. The Help Desk provides support for Microsoft Windows workstations and laptops, Apple workstations and laptops, Blackberry and Apple PDAs, printers and peripherals.
