American Academy of Dermatology Summer Internship & Mentor Program for Minority Medical Students Fact Sheet The American Academy of Dermatology invites first- and second-year medical students who are African American, Asian American, Hispanic American or Native American to learn more about dermatology as a medical specialty by participating in the Academy's Summer Internship and Mentor Program for Minority Medical Students. Program Description The selected students will spend one month working and studying with a dermatology mentor of their choice. The Academy will secure mentors from a variety of practice settings - private practice, research, etc. Participants will receive a $1,000 grant and may be eligible for an additional $500 in travel expense reimbursement. Purpose The program objective is to provide students with personal and hands-on exposure to dermatology by working with a mentor. The Academy hopes that participation in this program stimulates interest in dermatology as a pursuable and obtainable career choice for minority students. Application Process
Mail applications to: Cheryl A. Hayden Applications must be received in April. Grants winners will be announced in April. After you complete your internship, you must write a one-page summary
describing your experience. You will not receive your internship certificate
