Well-Being Program Articles
Medical students face many challenges during their time here
at school. Here are some articles written by the Well-Being staff to address
issues we commonly hear about. Take a look through these articles and
you will most likely find some that speak to concerns you and your classmates
have had.
Books
Often students find it helpful to read books about coping skills.
Here is a list of books we recommend to students who are hoping to learn
more successful self-care tools. Several of the books listed below teach
concrete ways to manage your thoughts and moods. Many students say that
even reading for fifteen minutes before bed helps them feel hopeful and
in charge of their well-being.
Redfield Lending Library
This library was compiled by a medical student as an academic
project. The library consists of books related to mental health issues
and specific disorders. Most of the books are autobiographical and offer
compelling first-hand experiences of struggles with mental illness and/or
addictions. All medical students, faculty, and staff are welcome to check
out books free of charge. The library is located in our waiting room on
the second floor of 735 Parnassus and is open Monday through Friday 9am
to 5pm.
