We encourage you to contact the Well-Being program with any problem, big or small. You may want to contact the program even in anticipation of problems. Students seek help with depression, loss and grief, anxiety, relationship or family problems, academic difficulties, alcohol or substance use, couples counseling, and many, many other issues.

This service is confidential. All contact with the Well-Being program is kept strictly separate from the UCSF School of Medicine. To help protect your privacy, we are located a short distance from the main part of campus at 735 Parnassus near 5th Avenue. See Privacy Concerns for more information.

The services are free. Usually, Program staff meet with students for one to three sessions to help clarify and assess your situation. If you wish, we can also meet with you and your significant others if the problem is a relationship or family issue.

We work with you to make a plan that works for you. We can provide short-term therapy, medication evaluation and treatment, connect you with a therapist in the community who's appropriate to your needs and budget, or suggest someone else in the University who is better suited to help you. It depends on your individual circumstances.
