She also is the Medical Director for the Division of Infectious Diseases at Children's Hospital Central California. Dr. Geertsma did her medical and graduate medical training in Ann Arbor Michigan at the University of Michigan Medical Centers, and completed her pediatric infectious disease fellowship at UCSF in 1997. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Her research interests include pediatric coccidiodomycosis, as well as pediatric graduate medical education. Dr. Geertsma is interested in the balance between medical economics and quality pediatric care. This interest has led to membership on the board of directors for a large pediatric multi-specialty physician group for the past four years. She also has a long term interest in marine environments and is published and has spoken, both nationally and internationally, on the subject of coral propagation. She is an avid scuba diver and served on the board of directors of the San Francisco Aquarium Society during her fellowship training.
