is an Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, UCSF Fresno Medical
Education Program, and Interim Program Director for the UCSF Fresno
Pediatric Residency Program. She also is the Medical Director for the
Division of Infectious Diseases at Children's Hospital Central California.
Dr. Geertsma did her medical and graduate medical training in Ann Arbor
Michigan at the University of Michigan Medical Centers, and completed
her pediatric infectious disease fellowship at UCSF in 1997. She is
Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Her
research interests include pediatric coccidiodomycosis, as well as pediatric
graduate medical education. Dr. Geertsma is interested in the balance
between medical economics and quality pediatric care. This interest
has led to membership on the board of directors for a large pediatric
multi-specialty physician group for the past four years. She also has
a long term interest in marine environments and is published and has
spoken, both nationally and internationally, on the subject of coral
propagation. She is an avid scuba diver and served on the board of directors
of the San Francisco Aquarium Society during her fellowship training.
