is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Laboratory Medicine, based at
the San Francisco VA Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from
Tongji Medical University, Wuhan, China. After his post-graduate study
and training in Pathophysiology and Cardiovascular Medicine at Tongji
Medical University and Beijing Medical University, he completed a postdoctoral
research fellowship at UC San Diego. He then continued his clinical
training with a Clinical Pathology residency at UC San Diego hospitals
and a Hematopathology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center,
Harvard Medical School. He joined UCSF faculty in 2003. Currently he
is the Chief of Hematology Laboratories and Hematopathology Service
and the Site Director of the UCSF Laboratory Medicine Residency Program
at the VA. Dr. Lu received the departmental Residents' Faculty Teaching
Award in 2004.
