Teaching Scholars Program

Sumant Ranji, MD (TSP 2007-2008) is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine and is an Associate Program Director for the UCSF internal medicine residency program. He graduated from Brown University and the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, and completed his internal medicine training at the University of Chicago Hospitals. After serving as chief resident at Cook County Hospital, he came to UCSF as a hospitalist/general medicine fellow in 2002. His educational interests revolve around the teaching of evidence-based medicine, patient safety, and quality improvement at the resident level. He is involved in redesigning the evaluation and assessment system within the residency program, with the goal of developing methods to measure the quality of care provided by residents.
