Teaching Scholars Program
is
an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine and Director of Clinical
Quality Services at UC San Diego. She received her Bachelor of Science
from University of Colorado-Boulder and obtained her medical degree
from Washington University, St. Louis. She completed her Family Medicine
residency at University of Wisconsin-Madison. From 1998 through 2003,
Caroline was a clinician-educator at UCSF Lakeshore Family Medicine
and at SFGH Family Health Center, and from 2000-2003, she also served
as the Assistant Medical Director at Lakeshore. From June 2003 through
April 2004 with funding from the Academy of Medical Educators' "Innovations
in Curriculum," Caroline together with Rick McKinney, MD directed
a pilot course for UCSF third-year medical students in prevention of
physician burnout and reflective professional development, "See
One, Do One, Be One: Skills for the Effective and Satisfied Physician."
Caroline is currently completing a MPH in Health Services Administration
as part of her pursuit of a career in health services research focusing
on quality, how it is defined and what organizational change is necessary
to improve outcomes and preserve effective patient-physician relationships.
