Teaching Scholars Program
is Associate
Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of California, San
Francisco (UCSF). She graduated from Stanford University with a degree
in Human Biology, and then attended medical school at UCSF. She completed
the categorical internal medicine residency and a chief residency year
at UCSF. With a strong interest in medical education, Karen is Director
of Internal Medicine Clerkships and Co-Director of the UCSF Clinical
Skills Center and the Clinical Practice Examination. She is a member
of the inaugural class of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators. Her
research interests include clinical skills assessment, mentoring and
the impact of hospitalists on medical education. She is an active member
of the UCSF hospitalist group, and maintains a small primary care practice.
