Teaching Scholars Program
is Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of General
Internal Medicine. He received his BA from Harvard University in Anthropology
and his MD from UCSF. Dr. Rabow completed the Primary Care Internal
Medicine Residency at UCSF and a general medicine fellowship at UCSF
focused on existential issues in the doctor-patient relationship. He
is a Soros Foundation Project on Death in America Faculty Scholar. At
UCSF, Dr. Rabow has a general medicine clinical practice, and attends
on the medical wards and the palliative care inpatient service. He teaches
about communication and end-of-life care in the medical school, residency,
and in CME courses nationally. Dr. Rabow conducts research in palliative
care, with a focus on clinical care and professional development. As
part of the UCSF Palliative Care Leadership Center, Dr. Rabow consults
with hopsitals nationwide seeking to expand their palliative care services.
