  1. Announcements:
    New Server

ISU will be adding another server in July in order to eliminate down-time for patching. What this means to us is that we will have a 2 day freeze on content updates on integration and you will need to remap your computer drives and DreamWeaver to a new location. No content will be lost and your workflow will not be affected. For a complete update please see the announcement we emailed out a few weeks ago.

    Proposed Intranet
We are in the planning phases of expanding and improving our intranet. We will begin by assessing the needs and opinions of the Dean's Office Staff. If you would like to participate in a focus group, please contact Beth.

    Left Nav Improvements
We are also in the process of improving our LeftHandNavigation. We are developing a few ideas and will be testing them with users in the next couple of months.

Meta-Tags, Page Titles, and Search Function
We realize that in order for your sites to rank in search engines, you will need more control over your meta-tags and page titles. We will be updating your pages and your templates over the summer to allow you to edit these areas yourselves. Additionally, we are improving our own internal School of Medicine search.
  2. Presentation:

    Web Metrics
Beth discussed website metrics: how many hits a site or page is getting, what the most popular pages are, etc.. If you are interested in having analysis done of your site, please contact Beth.

    Web-based Forms
We also discussed web-based forms which can now help you convert some of your old pen-and-paper based processes to the web. They are also useful for RSVP, seminar/class registration and the like. Data is collected on the web and returned to you in the form of an Excel spreadsheet, which you may then download and manipulate as you wish. If you would like us to create a form for you, please contact Beth.

You will be responsible for content and layout, in mock-up form, which must be signed off before we begin building out the forms. The basic forms elements are located in /templates/_forms.aspx, for cutting and pasting as you do currently with other standard web-elements. Valentina has created a tutorial on the subject and will be available to assist you with this process.
  3. New sites/projects in progress:
  4. Proposed Topics and Dates for Next Meeting
Do you have a date or a day preference for our next meeting in May? Are there any days/dates which are not good for you? Would you prefer a morning or afternoon meeting? Please contact Valentina and let me know your preferences.

These are the topics I propose for our next meeting. Please let me know of any topics you'd like to see presented or have questions on.
