  1. Beth Berrean presented the goals and background for the re-structuring of the School of Medicine's new website. Cynthia Milionis presented the mockups.
  2. We are estimating an early Fall launch for the new website. Your URL will be changing. Please publish your new URL in any upcoming publications.

  3. We will be using a batch process to convert existing web pages to the new design. Pages from your content inventory will be automatically converted to the new design. When the conversion is complete, web workers will be responsible for performing a Quality Assurance of their sites before the final launch to be sure that your site is complete, is formatted well and that there are no broken links. You will be given about a month to complete this process. If you have not completed a content inventory, your entire live site will be converted and you will be responsible for eliminating extraneous or outdated pages.

  4. Web workers are requested to sign up for one of two times to attend a workshop in which we will review in detail the steps that will be necessary for the Quality Assurance process. We are considering July 24th or 25th and would like to know if anyone would prefer an afternoon time.

  5. Please contact Beth Berrean to sign up for a workshop and for any questions regarding your final URL.

  6. If you would like to begin reviewing your site in preparation for the batch conversion, check to be sure that all content and tables are no bigger than 415 pixels in width. Any content wider than this will severely impact the design and will render your pages very poorly. You may also want to begin reviewing your site for items that can be pulled out of the content areas into sidebars. In the new design, you will also have optional table for 'see also' links (see the mockups above), this is a good time to review on-page lists of links with a view to moving them into these navigation tables.

  7. Again, a special thank you to Patrick Delahunt for being such a good host, and to all who came and participated!
