Working on Intranet Sites
Some of our content is restricted to the UCSF School of Medicine community. This content is located on the intranet site and can only be viewed by the School of Medicine computers or via VPN. (If you are interested in having an intranet site, and do not already, please contact Beth Berrean to have the Web Services team create it for you.) The intranet may be differentiated from the Medschool (internet) site by its URL.
The integration areas are differentiated by URL in the same manner.
It is important to understand that these are actually two separate sites, located on separate servers, with distinct URL's. Since the Medschool (internet) and the intranet are two separate sites, you will need to map two separate network drives as described in the tutorial.
In the same manner, you will map (or create) separate sites in Dreamweaver as described in that tutorial mapping each site to its network drive.
Linking between the Internet and the Intranet Keeping in mind that these are two separate sites you will link between the internet (Medschool) and the intranet using fully qualified URL's. This means that you must type out (or copy from the browser) the full URL and paste it in the Link field in your properties panel. Additionally, be sure to link to the page where it will ultimately reside on the live site and not to the integration site. Linking to the intranet from Medschool (internet):

When linking to the intranet from Medschool, be sure to
add the
lock icon next to the text link to let your users know that they are
being directed to a restricted area. The lock icon is located in \templates\_graphics.aspx
