In order to work on the School of Medicine website you will need to map a network drive to its location. This is essentially a shortcut to the to the School of Medicine website which directs your computer to where the files are located. Mapping is done by assigning a drive letter on your local machine to the School of Medicine site. If you also have a website on the intranet, you will need to map a second drive to that server. Note: If you are connecting from outside of UCSF network, remember that you must connect to the UCSF network using VPN before you can map a drive. In your explore window, choose Tools > Map Network Drive.
Select Drive: V in the Drive field, and type (or cut and paste) in \\somlh22.som.ucsf.edu\int_medschool into the Folder field. Check the box labelled Reconnect at logon. (Note: Your V drive may already mapped to \\somlh4\ for the old server mappings. If so the Drive field will already be populated. Do not worry about this. Simply put the correct server location into the Folder field.) Important: If you are working on a department site, type in: \\somlh22.som.ucsf.edu\int_dermatology, \\somlh22.som.ucsf.edu\int_pediatrics, etc. If you will be working on the intranet, you will need choose another drive letter for it and type in: \\somlh22.som.ucsf.edu\int_intranet.
You can now view your site by browsing to it via the newly mapped drive. Important: You will also need to map DreamWeaver to this location in order to use DreamWeaver to edit your files. Note: int_medschool contains all the sites in the medschool.ucsf.edu domain. Your site is housed within int_medschool. Although you will only be able to edit your own files, you will be able to view all files in int_medschool. |
