Mapping a Network Connection (Mac)

In order to work on the your website, you will need to map a network drive to its location. This is essentially a shortcut to the website allowing your computer to 'know' where the files are located.

Note: If you are connecting from outside of UCSF network, remember that you must connect to the UCSF network using VPN before you can map a drive.

the Finder iconSwitch to the Finder (if you are in a different program) by clicking on the Finder icon in the Dock.

Click on “Go” in the menu bar and select “Connect to Server…”(It should be the last item on the drop down menu).

.Go. in the menu bar and select .Connect to Server&.

You will be presented with the following screen.

smb://somlh4/int_medschool , etc

In the address box, type this in (or copy and paste from here) smb://somlh22.som.ucsf.edu/int_medschool. Click "Connect".

(Important: If you are working on a department site, type in: smb://somlh22.som.ucsf.edu/int_stemcell, smb://somlh22.som.ucsf.edu/int_dermatology, smb://somlh22.som.ucsf.edu/int_pediatrics, etc.

If you are working on an intranet site type in: smb://somlh22.som.ucsf.edu/int_intranet.)

Add to FavoritesIf you want to easily connect to this share in the future, click the “Add to Favorites” button.

You will then be prompted to enter your Workgroup/Domain, username, and password.

Enter Domain, Username and Password

Enter SOM for the Workgroup/Domain. If you normally login to the School of Medicine (SOM) domain, your username and password will be the same as the ones you normally use. If you do not usually login to the SOM, you will have had a username and password issued to you. If you are unsure of what your username and password are, please contact Larry.

Click the “OK” button. Connection may take a few moments. While this is happening, you will see a connection status window showing the progress of the connectivity.

Once successfully connected, a network drive icon will appear on your desktop with the sharename.

Now you have successfully mapped a network drive. Your next step it to map DreamWeaver to this drive.
