This session is about both identifying what would be appropriate faculty development for your faculty, and also how to motivate them to participate. At the end of this session participants will be able to:

    • Determine the appropriate faculty development offerings for faculty with differing responsibilities within the educational program such as teacher, assessor, curriculum developer, mentor, and administrator.
    • Identify at least three strategies that would help engage their faculty in faculty development.

During this session participants will work both in small and large groups to:

    • Identify the different roles a faculty member could play in the program
    • Work to expand the matrix of offerings possible for their faculty and highlight what they believe are the most critical, based on evaluation data they have about their course/clerkship/program.
    • Develop an individualized development plan as an example of one strategy to motivate a faculty member to participate in faculty development.
    • Identify other motivational strategies.
    • Review the faculty development resources currently available at UCSF as well as external programs.
